The second Consortium Meeting of the LINEup ‘Longitudinal Data for Inequalities in Education” project took place in Barcelona on February 13-14, 2025, hosted by our partner, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The meeting brought together all 14 LINEup project partners from six countries to assess progress and strategize the next steps.
Key Highlights from the Meeting
Mapping phase advancements:
The first day focused on the Mapping phase, with discussions structured around three key areas:
- Database Insights & Online System Development – Partners shared insights from the databases identified and collected during the first year of the project. Additionally, an online system will be developed in 2025 to showcase the Mapping results, making them accessible to both the scientific community and education stakeholders.
- Research Questions & Data harmonization – The consortium explored critical research questions related to data analysis and harmonization.
- Next Steps & Deliverables – Planning continued for the upcoming milestones, including the LINEup Mapping Research Report (July 2025) and the Feasibility Study (January 2026).
Kickoff of the Qualitative Research
On the second day, the consortium officially launched the preparatory phase for the Qualitative Research, which will engage nine schools across six countries starting in the second half of 2025. A dedicated working group was established, bringing together representatives from research organizations involved in fieldwork.
Discussions emphasized the importance of early engagement with national education authorities and the need to refine school selection criteria to ensure a robust research approach.
Dissemination & Outreach
A lively exchange took place on the project’s dissemination strategy, particularly focusing on:
- LINEup Cartoon Videos – Designed to raise awareness of educational inequalities among the general public. The first video’s storyboard was finalized, and its release is planned for this spring.
- Upcoming LINEup Newsletter – “Lessons Learned” – The consortium outlined the content for the next edition, which will be tailored for the scientific community.
